Reel grinding removes wear, nicks, and rounding from the reel blades while reestablishing manufacturer-specified relief or spin grind angles. The process also corrects conical reels, restoring them to a true cylindrical shape. This ensures precise reel-to-bedknife contact, consistent height of cut, and optimal performance across all turf conditions.

Backlapping is the process of running the reel in reverse with lapping compound to refresh the cutting edges. While it is acceptable as a short-term maintenance method, it does not correct geometry or coning. For optimal performance, accuracy, and longevity, we recommend periodic reel and bedknife grinding.
